A good definition of pride could be getting out from under rightfully delegated authority (not usurpers). Usurping, or swelling of the self will and purpose of the presumptuous, seeking to magnify themselves over against others. Puffed up and hearing no one but themselves; envious. It is to be held in contempt. ('Will' and 'authority' become inseparably connected here.)
